'Dogs fall to Roadrunners on the road

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - After earning their first win of the season in Sacramento, Fresno State would drop their first road game of the season against CSU Bakersfield on Thursday by a final score of 4-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED

CSU Bakersfield would get the scoring started early just two minutes into the game. On their second corner kick of the night, the ball would take a Roadrunner bounce right to Mya Clarke who would give CSU Bakersfield the lead off an impressive bicycle kick right in front of the net. Fresno State nearly found the equalizer just seconds later, but Alexis Campbell's shot would drift wide to the right.

In the 30th minute, Fresno State would record their second scoring chance of the half as Kayla Robinson's shot off a crosser was stopped by goaltender Kamy Anaya, but Robinson would redeem herself three minutes later. Abigail Herren would send a pass to Robinson who would chip a shot over the goaltender into the top of the net, tying the game 1-1.

CSU Bakersfield wasted no time regaining the lead in the opening minutes of the second half as a strike from Jaiden Gore just inside the box would beat Shivani Battaglia to put the Roadrunners in front 2-1. Laura Mas Serra looked to bring Fresno State even in the 62nd minute, but her shot from in front of the net would be blocked by a Roadrunner defender

The Roadrunners extended their lead in the 71st minute with a goal from the middle of the box to give them a two-goal advantage over the Bulldogs with just under twenty to play. CSU Bakersfield would find the back of the net one more time in the 77th minute as the Bulldogs would go on to drop their first road contest of the year, 4-1
