Mountain West announces outdoor all-conference selections

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo - Following the completion of the 2025 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Outdoor Track & Field Championships last weekend, the Fresno State track and field team secured 11 All-Mountain West honors as the conference office announced its postseason awards on Wednesday.

The team is composed of the top three finishers in each individual event and the top three relay teams at the men's and women's championships.

The Bulldogs earned All-MW in nine different events. Jewel Ash, Janae Heffernan and Cierra Jackson led the team with two All-MW honors each.

Ash was one of three Bulldog gold medalists, winning the 400m hurdles with a program record time of 57.63. She was also the final leg of the women's 4x400 relay that took silver with a time of 3:37.36.

Heffernan joined Ash on the relay team, but earned individual honors in the long jump. The junior took third in the long jump with a personal best mark of 6.18m. She becomes Fresno State's first All-Mountain West selection in the long jump since 2016.

For the second straight season, Jackson earned All-MW honors in multiple throwing events. She claimed silver in both the hammer throw and shot put this season. She had a memorable contest in the shot put, as the senior threw for a mark of 17.77m, besting her previous record of 17.39m set at the 2024 championships.

Itzia Mejia Garcia and Miana Giovannini were the other two members of the 4x400 relay team that earned silver.

Throwers Emma Harper, Tearra Haney and Harriette Mortlock earned All-MW honors in their events. Harper (hammer throw) and Haney (javelin) were first time honorees while Mortlock (javelin) repeated as an all-conference selection.

Sophomore Liz Tarczy also repeated with All-Mountain West honors in the high jump. Tarczy set a new personal best with a 1.83m jump to claim her second consecutive gold medal in the event. She went undefeated this spring, continuing her impressive collegiate career.

For the first time since joining the Mountain West, Fresno State had medalists in both the heptathlon and decathlon. Sophomore Ella Spaulding became the youngest Bulldog to win the heptathlon, and the first since 2019. Senior Garrett Ostrinski closes out his career with his first collegiate medal in the decathlon, earning All-MW honors after claiming bronze in the event. Ostrinski became the first Bulldog to medal in the decathlon since joining the Mountain West, and he is just the second Bulldog since 2017 to medal in any event in the outdoor championships.
