Bulldogs sign Clemson transfer Jake Heidbreder

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State men's basketball head coach Vance Walberg announced the signing of Jake Heidbreder as a transfer from Clemson. Heidbreder (HIDE-bree-der) began his collegiate career at Air Force, and makes his return to the Mountain West with the Bulldogs.

He spent two seasons at Clemson, redshirting in the 2023-24 season before appearing in 32 games last year. Clemson went 27-7 last year, finished second in the ACC, and entered the NCAA Tournament as a No. 5 seed before an upset loss in the opening round.

The 6-foot-5 guard will have one year of eligibility remaining.

Prior to his time with the Tigers, Heidbreder made a significant impact playing for the Air Force Academy, where he developed into one of the Mountain West's top scorers as a young talent.

At Air Force, Heidbreder was a two-year starter who averaged double figures in scoring both seasons, highlighted by a 15.1 points per game average during the 2022-23 campaign. That year, he earned All-Mountain West third team honors and led the Falcons in scoring, three-point percentage, and minutes played. Known for his sharpshooting, court vision, and leadership, Heidbreder brings a versatile offensive skill set and veteran presence to the Bulldogs' roster for the upcoming season.

As a true freshman in the 2021-22 season, he scored 303 points for a then-Air Force freshman record in the MW era. He was the only player on the team to start every game that season, and ended the year with seven consecutive games in double digit scoring.
