ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – A day after beginning the New Mexico Team Open, Ceonna Pipion took center stage in the invitational section of 400 meters. The Fresno State senior won her fourth straight race of the season in the event.
Pipion crossed the line in a season-best time of 52.99.
Pipion concluded her day in the 4x400 relay, helping her team to its best time of the season. Pipion, Itzia Mejia Garcia, Jewel Ash and Janae Heffernan finished third with a time of 3:39.21. The time was three seconds better than their previous low.
SEATTLE – Out in the Pacific Northwest, Fresno State claimed a pair of second-place finishes on Day 2 of the UW Invitational.
Early in the day, Zoe Yeast earned her third Top-2 finish of the season in the weight throw. The senior placed second on Saturday with a toss of 18.99m/ 62-3.75. Emma Harper (17.88m/58-8) and Mia Lawson (17.32m/56-10) took fourth and fifth, respectively.
In the high jump, Liz Tarczy placed second with a best clearance of 1.74m/5-8.5. After clearing the previous two heights on her first attempt, the sophomore cleared her top mark on her third attempt.
