COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – After breaking Fresno State's record in the triple jump, Rachela Pace was named Mountain West Women's Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday. It is the junior's first weekly honor of the outdoor season, and third overall during 2024.
In her first triple jump event of the outdoor season at the Stanford Invitational on Saturday, Pace broke the program's outdoor record with a mark of 13.12m/43-0.5. It leads the MW and ranks No. 6 in the NCAA.
The jump surpassed Crystal Simmons' mark of 13.06m/42-10.25 which had stood as Fresno State's record since 2001. Pace became the only Bulldog women's triple jumper to have marks over 13 meters in both indoor and outdoor. She now holds both the indoor and outdoor record.
At the Stanford Invitational, Pace placed second overall in the event. She was the only collegian to record a mark over 13 meters.
