Jackson improves No. 2 all-time shot put mark in Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. – The opening day of the Stanford Invitational saw the Fresno State track and field teams turn in five Top 3 results at Cobb Track and Angell Field. Three of those came in the throws.

Coming off a solid opening outdoor meet last week, Cierra Jackson improved on her No. 2 all-time shot put mark at Fresno State. The junior took second in the invite section of the event landing a toss of 16.47m/54-0.5 on her fifth attempt.

In the collegiate section of the shot put, Amelia DiPaola placed second at 14.49m/47-6.5. It was her first of two Top 3's on the day. In the hammer invite, the senior placed third with mark of 61.08m/200-4.

In the invite section of the javelin, Harriette Mortlock and Rhiannon Genilla finished third and sixth respectively, with top throws of 47.26m/155-0 and 44.09m/144-8.

In the jumps, Liz Tarczy and Madison Hutton took third in their events. Tarczy was third in the high jump with a clearance of 1.63m/5-4.25. Hutton led a group of three 'Dogs in the long jump to a 3-6-6 finish. Hutton had a best jump of 5.76m/18-10.75 while Matilde Guarino and Janae Heffernan tied forth sixth at 5.62m/18-5.25.

On the men's side, Jabari King and Kamoni Reams each placed 10th in their events. King had a mark of 6.79m/22-3.5 in the long jump while Reams cleared 1.83m/6-0 in the high jump.

Day 2 of the meet will resume on Saturday morning.
