FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State women's tennis team is set to return to the court for its 2022 spring season, which is scheduled to begin on Jan. 21 in San Diego.

"We have an exciting spring schedule with some opportunities to play nationally-ranked teams throughout the season," Fresno State head coach Denise Dy said. "We're excited to keep building on the momentum from last year and continue to fight for a Mountain West Championship."

Fresno State's 2022 schedule features 14 nonconference matches before opening conference play with two weekends of home matches (March 26-27 & April 2-3). Those four home MW matches are followed by three road trips for the final six MW matches leading up to the 2022 MW Championships (April 27-30, 2022 at El Conquistor Tennis Center in Tucson, Ariz).

In its spring 2021 season, Fresno State tied for the most overall, as well as the most conference victories by any Mountain West team by going 15-5 overall and 8-2 in MW.

The Bulldogs also finished in the Top 10 of the 2021 Oracle ITA Northwest Region rankings in head coach Denise Dy's first season back home in the Golden State.

Dalia Ahmad was named 2021 MW Women's Tennis Player of the Year with 15-2 record in singles play as a junior and returns for her senior season. Ahmed is one of seven returners for the Bulldogs, who also welcome two newcomers to the roster – Pang Jittakoat, a junior transfer from Washington State (Bangkok, Thailand) and Matilde Margrini (Pesaro, Italy). All nine players competed this fall, which included four tournament appearances throughout California, with many impressive victories.
