Accidental 9-1-1 Call in Palmdale, California Ends in Adorable Dance-Off

An accidental 9-1-1 call ended in a big win for everyone who likes adorable dance videos on the internet.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department says when Deputy Vic Ekanem and his partner from the Palmdale Sheriff's Station responded to an accidental 9-1-1 dial when they noticed a few kids acting timid around the deputies.

That's when Ekanem and his partner decided to take a little bit of extra time to make sure everything was OK with everyone and show them that the sheriff's deputies were nothing to be afraid of. Eventually the conversation ended in a dance-off between Ekanem and one of the kids.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department posted the video to their Facebook page Monday morning with the caption "Great start to our Week!"

The post goes on to explain that Deputy Ekanem and his partner are a part of L.A.S.D.'s S.H.A.R.E. program (Stop Hate and Respect Everyone), a community outreach effort meant to focus on youth.

LASD'S S.H.A.R.E Program (Stop Hate and Respect Everyone) was launched in 2008, the program was meant to focus on the youth as they leave the grade school campuses and enter high school. Youth sometimes become involved in various cliques which may practice very negative views such as hate and intolerance.

The L.A.S.D. says deputies conceded the dance-off to the young man after they moved onto the "Flossing" dance (even as they blamed the heat and the massive flashlight Deputy Ekanem carried for the loss).
