Bulldogs head to Austin for U.S. Open

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State swim team sends a select group of Bulldogs to the Toyota U.S. Open Championships in Austin, TX beginning Thursday through Saturday at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swim Center streaming live on the USA Swimming Network and NBC Peacock.

The Toyota U.S. Open meet is set in a prelims/finals format with the preliminary sessions beginning at 7 a.m. PT/ 9 a.m. CT and final to follow at 4 p.m. PT/ 6 p.m. CT.

Bulldog Bones

Four Bulldogs will make the trip to Austin, Ryley Clark, Aliz Kalmar, Mackenzie Miller Lung and Jenna Pulkkinen

All four hold at least one new program or Aquatic Center record

Fresno State finished third at the mid-season Utah Tech Invitational

Bulldogs broke three relay records and one individual program record

This is the largest Bulldog group competing at the U.S. Open in the last three seasons

Bulldogs will take a break from the short-course yards this weekend and swimming 50-meter long course

The 2025 Toyota U.S. Open Championships has been approved by World Aquatics to serve as a qualifying event for the World Aquatics Swimming Championships in Beijing 2026.

There will be an A (Championship), B (Consolation), and C (18-U Only)

Foreign swimmers are eligible to participate in the B (Consolation) and A (Championship) heats in Finals.

Speedy 'Dogs

All Four 'Dogs attending this weekend have hit a slew of season and career best along with program and Aquatic Center records. At the Utah Tech Invite Ryley Clark, Mackenzie Miller Lung and Jenna Pulkkinen were all a part of the three record breaking relays in the 200 & 400 Medley and 200 free relay. Miller Lung also broke the program record in the 100 breaststroke that same weekend.

Miller Lung takes the number one spot in the Mountain West in both breaststroke events as well as 7th in the nation (100 breast) and 9th in the nation (200 breast).

Weekend Lineup

Four Bulldogs will make the trip to Austin for the U.S. Open. In any of the breaststroke events Bulldogs are not seeded lower than 15th. Clark will swim one event this weekend in the 200 backstroke, while the trio of breaststroker's will hit all three events in the stroke. Pulkkinen will swim one other event outside of her usual breaststroke events in the 50-meter butterfly.

Who's on deck

Bulldogs will face a large pool of competition in Austin this weekend that features the likes of Olympians and other top Division I swimmers, such as Olympic gold medalists Kate Douglass, Simone Manuel, Caeleb Dressel, Bobby Finke, Summer McIntosh, Leon Marchand and Hubert Kos. Plus world record holders Gretchen Walsh and Regan Smith.
