For the next year Fresno State Athletics will celebrate its first 100 years

FRESNO, Calif. – A decade after Fresno State Normal School was founded in 1911, the inaugural seasons of competition for Fresno State's football and men's basketball teams debuted in 1921.

Fresno State's baseball team also began playing during that academic year, in the spring of 1922.

Fresno State Normal School later took the name Fresno State College in 1949, and then simply became Fresno State in 1972.

July officially marked the start of a new year for Fresno State, and in those 365 days, Fresno State Athletics will honor the legacy of its first 100 years in a variety of centennial efforts, including custom programming, student-athletes donning the official centennial logo on athletic apparel, and a Centennial Celebration event with exciting details to be announced in the near future. Additionally, Fresno State will also recognize the 50th anniversary of Title IX this year, including the launch of The Bulldog Foundation's 50 for 50 campaign, which aims to secure 50 endowments in support of female student-athletes.

In the first 100 years of Fresno State Athletics, the Bulldogs have won multiple national championships, over 215 team conference championships and over 345 individual conference championships, and produced over 350 All-Americans, Olympians and community leaders -- with athletic and academic excellence representing the Pride of the Valley around the world.
