The Permanent Host Of 'Jeopardy' Might've Just Been Accidentally Revealed

Following Jeopardy host Alex Trebek's death in November of 2020, a group of guest hosts took on his role behind the podium. First, Jeopardy champ Ken Jennings filled in, then a slew of other celebrities including Katie Couric, Anderson Cooper, Dr. Oz, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, actress Mayim Bialik and Jeopardy executive producer Mike Richards. With still no host selected, in April 2021, another group of stars guested, like LeVar Burton, Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos and sportscaster Joe Buck.

In August 2021, a successor had been announced - Mike Richards, with Mayim Bialik hosting Jeopardy primetime specials and spin-offs. However, nine days later, a report came out exposing controversial remarks Richards had made in his past, so after taping a week's worth of shows, he stepped down from the host position and later resigned as executive producer. Since then, Bialik and Jennings have been taking turns as host.

Their tenure in the role has been filled with many headlines, most of which were about Mayim - what she says, her humor, what she wears, how she acts and more. Well their time sharing hosting duties is set to expire at the end of July, so who will be made permanent host at that point? Some fans think a major clue was just unintentionally revealed.

This week, FOX released their fall TV lineup and among the shows set to air is Call Me Kat, the series starring Mayim. However, unlike the show's first two seasons, season three won't premiere mid-season in January, rather it is set to debut in September. This likely means more episodes than the 13 in season one and the 18 in season two, which means more work, which means less time for Bialik to host Jeopardy. In fact, many fans suspect the decision for the permanent host role has already been decided, and it's going to Ken.

That's not the only sign pointing to Jennings. On Ken's podcast, Omnibus, he recently revealed he is scheduled to tape more Jeopardy episodes in June, which might mean he will be hosting beyond the end of July. Also, the show is clearly currently locking up contracts. Writer Mark Gaberman just announced on Twitter that he signed on for another year with the show.

An official announcement is likely coming soon and whatever happens, Mayim is still set to host the upcoming celebrity Jeopardy spin-off show.
