If you are like me, sometimes we are like Paul who wrote in our scripture reading today, "So I find it to be a law that when I want to do what is good, evil lies close at hand. Although we may have been able to live victoriously over sin in various areas of our life, no matter how hard we try we will always slip, never really able to get a grip on our own need until we turn it over to God and allow God to reach down and set us free.

Very few programs for rehabilitating human nature progress very far unless they have a spiritual basis. If we do allow God to be part of the change process, though, almost anything is possible.

A young jogger took a seat next to an old man on a park bench. The old man looked up and said, "I'm in great shape, too. Every artery is hard as a rock!"

I don't know if we can be proud of hard arteries, but we can be proud of Christ being our solid rock. With Christ as our rock and foundation, we will continue to grow spiritually.
