Normani Kordei and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy performed a near perfect routine on Monday’s “Dancing With The Stars.” They danced what was termed an “epic” paso doble to “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” from Mulan on Disney Night. Watch the video above of their routine.
Last week, the Fifth Harmony singer received 32 out of 40 points for her rumba to her own group’s song “Impossible.” While a decent enough score, at this point in the competition, it placed Kordei closer to the bottom of the scoreboard. Len Goodman called Kordei a “terrific dancer” and noted how “charismatic” she is, but he did offer some criticism. Similarly, Carrie Ann Inaba pointed out that her and Chmerkovskiy’s lifts were flawed. Julianne Hough, however, called Kordei a “powerhouse” and thought the dance was “well done.” And Bruno Tonioli exclaimed the singer was a “rumba dominatrix,” and was “owning that stage like a true star.” “It was a “joy to watch,” he added.
Of her “Disney Night” performance this week, Hough said, “That was great.” Carrie Ann Inaba felt, “That was epic… It was perfection.” Tonioli also loved it. And Goodman remarked, “I really enjoyed watching it.” For Kordei’s paso doble, she received a total of 39 out of 40 points.
